Das Alpenmurmeltier im SNP

We find our Alpine marmots on alpine pastures and subalpine lawns. In order to protect themselves from enemies in low-cover terrain, marmots depend on their burrows. In case of danger, they disappear in a flash in the building or in one of the 1 to 2 m long escape tubes. Marmots often use different burrows in summer and winter.  A walk-in marmot burrow can be found in the National Park Centre!
