Chapel Disentis Sedrun

Chapel of Maria zum Schnee, Tenigerbad

Das Foto zeigt die Kapelle Maria zum Schnee in Tenigerbad
Since the mineral water of Tenigerbad was well used, Clau Maissen had this chapel built in 1674.

Description

The vaulted chapel is oriented to the south. The chancel is notably separated from the nave by an arch that is 1.2 meters lower than the vault. The bell tower stands on a single central post, unlike the usual four supports, causing it to sway when the bells are rung. The chapel has two bells. The altarpiece depicts the Madonna and St. Catherine of Siena, with a view of the old bathhouse and the chapel in the background. In the nave, there is a large engraving of the miraculous image from Einsiedeln.
