Piz Chalchagn mit Abfahrt über die Nordhänge

The start is in Morteratsch. At the beginning, the hut path of the Bovalhütte is followed. At this point, where a path leads down to the Morteratsch glacier (signpost), you leave the Hüttenweg in a northerly direction. Continue over the forest clearing Chünetta, and then steeply up to Chünetta Sur, and again steep, gradually exceeding the tree line, to a terrace at 2650 meters. On this terrace the view of the finish, as well as the Bernina massif is free. The point 2759 is to be targeted before it goes steeply over Gianda Chalchagn on one shoulder again. Last but not least, the steep summit slope follows, which is gained via hairpin bends. The short ridge to the summit is made easier.

The descent via the north side takes place at the beginning near the ridge to Foppa Chalchagn. It continues steeply over wide slopes and finally into the avalanche train Laviner Grand. Towards the end, the terrain becomes run out and in the slalom it goes around the young trees to the cross-country ski trail.

If you have parked your car in Morteratsch, you can complete the round trip in about 20 minutes by skating.
