Description
Scenically fantastic 2-day tour from Davos to Bergün. Return by train and Potsbus to Davos/Sertig.
The ascent/descent to Piz Kesch goes over the Vadret da Porchabella - which according to the hut keeper has some crevices - you first head towards Porta Es-Cha and climb in a wide arc into the glacier basin under the "north face".
The ascent to the Piz Kesch from the ski depot over the NO ridge/flank requires alpine experience, pimples and crampons - partly stands and intermediate fuses.
The northern descent from Kesch Pitschen (approx. 35°) is not exposed, but requires safe conditions!
Directions
Day 1: From Walserhuus (parking lot and final bus from Davos Platz. The Waldhuss has nice rooms and also camp with delicious breakfast) to the Sertigpass (2739m). From there in an arc to the east and later north to the point 2964m (in the Swiss ski tour map Route 523b to the Passhoereli).
Over west and south slopes descent into the Val da Tschüvel up to about 2320m. From there ascent to the Keschhütte (keep your distance from the steep eastern slopes!)
Day 2: From the Keschütte towards SO down into the depression and continue over the Vadret da Porchabella (attention crevices) up towards Porta d'Es-cha. At about 3000m to the west into the glacier basin and to the ski depot on the NO-Grat (in about 3250m). Steeply up over the NO ridge, or the NO flank to the Piz Kesch (3417m) - stands and intermediate protection are partly available.
Departure first towards Porta d'Es-cha and then over the Vadret da Porchabella towards the north-east up to about 2800m. Auffellen and Richting west to the Kesch Pitschen (2992m). Descent over Fantastic 35-40° steep northern slopes up to about 2400m to the winter path from Chants to keschhütte. Follow the path down to Chants (1822m) and out the valley to Bergün (about 1400m). Depending on the snow conditions, you have to carry the skis more or less far.
