Rundwanderung um Lej da Silvaplauna (Silvaplanersee) von Crotschas

First it goes through the high moor between Sils & Silvaplana over wooden footbridges. Continue through beautiful pine forests along the south side of the lake with always beautiful views of the lake. At the southeastern end of the lake you can make a detour to the waterfall of Lake Silvaplana. Then passed Crap da Sass Castle. Then you walk through the beautiful village of Silvaplana. There are some places to stop for refreshments. Then it goes over an easy mountain path along the north side of the lake. Here there are 2 viewpoints with a great view over the lake to Corvatsch and the surrounding mountains. Here, too, the path runs through beautiful pine forests. Emperor Augustus once passed through this district, called "Fratta", on his way across the Alps. Grooves of wagon wheels in the stone still bear witness to this time, when the Julier Pass was one of the most important passes of the Romans. If you look, you will find these grooves on this tour.

Orientation: largely well signposted, those unfamiliar with the area should take a map or navigation system with them. Types of trails: South side of the lake: paved hiking trail, north side of the lake: easy mountain trail (T2)

At the south-eastern end of the lake, a signposted, well-developed path leads to the waterfall of the Ova dal Sagl: about 1 km & 80 m of altitude more...

Take the Via Riva d'Lej (no. 25) and continue along the southern side of the river in the shady woods to Silvaplana. Past Crap da Sass Castle, which is privately owned.

Once in Silvaplana, walk through the village past both churches. After the Ova dal Vallun stream, take the forest path "Sanda da la Fratta" (white-red-white) in the direction of "Via Engiadina", which you will meet after 2 km. Continue on the Via Engadina (path no. 87). Again and again we go through shady forest areas with beautiful views over the Lej da Silvaplauna and enjoy the mountains all around. Finally, in serpentines back to the starting point.
