Description

There is an impressive variety of vegetation levels to experience on this tour: It stretches from the lush green pastures of Alp Quadrada over sparsely overgrown scree fields up into alpine wilderness with sparse lichens on mighty stone slabs. The lowest part is dominated by open terrain, the middle sections lead through pleasantly shady mountain forest, and at the very top there is a magnificent rocky landscape.

At the Pass da Cancian, the tour reaches a striking turning point. The crossing at the national border offers a fabulous view of both the lower part of the Valposchiavo and the neighboring Italian valley Valle Poschiavina. From there, a high-altitude trail leads over the ridge between the two valleys to the Pass d'your. At each pass there is a small mountain lake, in which the surrounding peaks are reflected. A third lake, the Laghet d'your, is encountered on the descent back to Quadrada.

Geheimtipp

The tour can be shortened by two hours by starting further up Alp Quadrada (accessible only by private car or taxi).

Directions

The route is signposted as a mountain hiking trail (white-red-white, difficulty level T3). The starting and finishing point is the Li Curt/Selva post bus stop (please note: dial-a-bus – reserve at least 1 hour before departure). It is a long mountain hike, but not overly strenuous thanks to moderate gradients.
