Details
Description
Starting at the train station in Ilanz the track runs along the yet young Rhine. Hereabaout the river is still able to meander through the landscape, before little further downstream he is squeezed into the sewer. The Rhine impresses with his deep blue color. Once in Rotterdam it will no longer be recognizable. The ride past Dutjen, Raveras and Rien is exraordinarily scenic. Time and again your eyes will wander away from the track onto «Vorderrhein», the mountains of the north of Grisons or into the «valley of light», the Val Lumnezia. After a brisk downhill past Riein and Sevgein one can catch the train in Ilanz and sit back satisfied into the armchair of the little red «Rhätische Bahn».
Worth seeing:
- «Türalihuus» in Valendas, a manor built in 1485
- protestant church Riein, built in the 15th century
- pilgrimage chapel to the sacred grave Sevgein
