Piz Scalottas im Winter
Those who set off from Lenzerheide at daybreak in the direction of Piz Scalottas emerge early from the shadows of the night.

Description

The first rays of sunlight finally travel down from the summit over gentle mountain slopes and extensive alpine meadows until they light up the Heidsee lake in deep blue at the bottom of the valley. The summit can be reached either by hiking or by floating. A first chairlift leads to the Tgantieni station, a second to just below the summit.Piz Scalottas is not particularly high; the summit is 2323 metres above sea level. But the view from Piz Scalottas is magnificent: to the east, the Parpaner Rothorn and the Lenzerhorn greet you; to the west, the Heinzenberg rises meekly from the valley floor of the Domleschg. To the left of the Heinzenberg is the wild and striking Piz Beverin. And in the south, the mighty triumvirate of Piz Mitgel, Tinzenhorn and Piz Ela appears.
