At around 120 km2 , the Parco Val Calanca is the smallest nature park in the country and the first in Italian-speaking Switzerland. Mountains and water characterise its landscape. Above all, the heart-shaped Lagh de Calvaresc, which the new nature park bears in its logo.

If you are looking for a more alpine adventure, hike the Sentiero Alpino Calanca in three to four days. This is a challenging tour and some of the nights are spent in unguarded refuges.

Capanna Buffalora

The Buffalora hut is a stage stop on the Sentiero Alpino Calanca. It is the only hut in the Calanca Valley that is staffed. Perfect for resting and enjoying the view over the valley.

Car-Free Braggio

In the steep Calanca Valley, people relied on mules for a long time. To this day, there are no asphalt roads leading to Braggio. You can reach it either on foot or by cable car.
