Attraction Heidiland
The Vättner Window
The Vättner Window is a geological peculiarity that explains the entire formation of the Tamina Valley and the Alps in a way that is understandable even for laypeople.
Description
The so-called Vättner window is the easternmost outcrop of the Aarmassiv, the alpine bedrock. The oldest rocks of the World Heritage Site and Geopark, more than 300 million years old, can be found at the entrance to the Chrüzbachtobel. A guided tour illustrates and explains how the landscape came to be without geological or palaeontological terminology.
During a 2-3 hour tour Geoguide Ruedi Kohler will share interesting facts about the landscape history, culture and history of the mountain village Vättis with you. Registration possible all year round: staimannli@bluewin.ch / 078 972 85 60
