In the Domleschg fruit and castle country lies the bathing lake "Canovasee", romantic and warm, reaching well over 20 degrees in the summer months.

A visit can be best combined with a walk to Almens, which promises a unique view of the Heinzenberg. The bathing season starts in early May. You can get ice cream and drinks at the kiosk.

The bathing lake lies at an altitude of 777 meters above sea level and is just under 200 meters long and 100 meters wide. Both the inflow and outflow of the lake are underground.

Public Transport

  1. From the south: Take the RhB to Thusis. In Thusis, take the bus to Almens, from where you walk approx. 1 km northwards (Paspels/Tomils). Follow the footpath at the post office stop, always straight ahead (old Domleschger Strasse). It leads directly to the lake.
  2. From the north: Take the train from Chur to Rhäzüns (terminus). Here you can take the post bus to Thusis via Domleschg (this is coordinated with the train). Get off in Paspels (post office), walk up a small path in the direction of the church and follow the road uphill to the school building and continue along the nature trail to the lake.
