The charming church of Monticello is dedicated to Our Lady of the Snows and was first mentioned back in the 16th century.

Description

Patron saint celebrated on the occasion of Candlemas (purification of Mary - 2 February) and the ritual candles are blessed. The ceremony was postponed from 5 August, because the men were probably in the mountains or out of town for work at that time. The documents in the parish archives attest to the consecration of the church on 1. December 1513. The enlargement of the chapel oriented from north to south began in 1621 and lasted until more than the middle of that century, as attested by the date 1657 above the entrance door. The bell tower was added only at the beginning of the nineteenth century.
