Description
Valendas is considered a showpiece for future-oriented village development. Since 9 July 2022, an exhibition has been providing insights into the history of the mountain village and showing how the sustainable development into a lively village has been successfully achieved.
The mountain village of Valendas has lived through an exciting history, which makes the place today's showpiece of successful village renewal. Various waves of emigration and the associated depopulation led to decades of development stagnation. Thanks to the commitment
committed residents, the association and the Valendas Foundation and the support of many people and institutions, Valendas has reinvented itself in recent years. The population is increasing and the houses and squares are filling with life again.
The townscape of national importance with its stately patrician houses, the imposing historic wooden fountain and the well-preserved historic buildings impressively shows the eventful history of the village. With the project "Valendas – An exhibition on the development and history of the village", locals and visitors are invited to learn more about life and work in Valendas and to understand how the revival of the village has been successful in the stable of the historic Jooshuus. The exhibition was implemented by the Valendas Impuls association and the Beverin Nature Park in cooperation with gasser, derungs and Ludmila Seifert.
