Natural Monument
Foopass
On your way along the Sardona World Heritage Trail, you will encounter the "magical line" of the Glarus Thrust on the Foopass!
Description
Rarely is the Glarus Thrust so beautifully exposed and so easily recognizable as on the east and south sides of the Foostock. As a result of erosion, the Glarus Thrust has already been carried away at the Foopass, which is why Arnold Escher came up with the theory of the Glarus double fold here in the middle of the 19th century. The fierce controversy over the Glarus double fold that lasted for decades led to the Foopass becoming a Mecca for geologists.
