Description
A church in Mathon is first documented as early as 831. The current building was built in 1728. One bell dates from the time of the Reformation at the beginning of the 16th century. The organ, decorated with peasant paintings, originally used in the Surava church, was installed in 1822, making Mathon the only Schams valley church with its own organ for more than a century. In the centre of the church interior is a baptismal font, which is also used as a communion table. The pulpit stands out due to a particularly artistically carved sound cover.
