1st August celebration on the Quaderwiese

Once again this year, the 1st of August celebration of the city of Chur offers great attractions and promises a worthy setting to celebrate Switzerland's birthday. Party-goers can visit the Quaderwiese at lunchtime. The children's entertainment with lots of fun and games as well as the 1st Harmonica Club Chur provide for the whole family for a short while. For example, the little ones can take part in the painting competition or let off steam on the Loki bouncy castle of the RhB. In addition, a variety of large and movement games invite you to try out and linger. Four different food trucks provide culinary variety, guaranteeing varied catering. From cheeseburgers to gyros to delicious pies, there is something for every taste.

After dark, the festive part begins with the traditional children's lantern parade and the bonfire at Calanda. This will be followed by the official speech by the President of the Municipal Council, Géraldine Danuser. The festivities conclude with a spectacular fire show with Christian Ziegler.

And the city is also prepared for bad weather: If the weather forecast for the national celebration predicts rain, the festivities will be moved to the Stadthalle Chur. The decision will be communicated on www.chur.ch/ a few days before the event.
