Paris, 1894: Fanni voluntarily admits herself to the psychiatric hospital "Hôpital de la Salpêtrière" in search of her mother. Here is a different reality than she had imagined: among the hundred women who were imprisoned with their diagnosis of "mental illness", there is a strong friendship despite everything. Their everyday life is dominated by the hectic preparations for the annual big ball at which the Parisian bourgeoisie enjoys themselves. For Fanni, this "Bal des folles" is the chance to escape..."Captives" takes us back to a time when female freedom was forced into a tight corset.
