La Compagnia Rossini:
The Graubünden soloist ensemble La Compagnia Rossini from Surselva celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2015. In 1980, the ensemble had become known as Trubadurs Sursilvans with folk songs in the Baroque style; the repertoire was expanded to include classical music after only a few years and the name of the formation was adapted accordingly.
The director of the Compagnia Rossini is Armin Caduff, who trained as a bel canto bass in Italy. Among his role models are the two great opera composers Gioacchino Rossini and Giuseppe Verdi, among many others. The desire to celebrate singing and conviviality soon became a successful concept that was reflected in a wide variety of formats from dinner concerts to semi-staged performances and proved itself over 30 years.
All voices have been and are continuously developed by Armin Caduff himself - a commitment that has already benefited many musical talents from the Surselva. Numerous members of the ensemble – including Anika Defuns, Maria Catrina Caduff, Cornelia Deplazes, Flurin Caduff and Claudio Simonet – have enjoyed success as soloists in various opera and concert performances. As unique as the ensemble are the transcriptions that Armin Caduff tailors to his singers' musically and lyrically. Countless international performances in the best concert halls, but also in many small and large houses of cultivated gastronomy testify to the success of this ensemble, which continues to inspire a constantly growing circle of followers spanning several generations.
