Description
39th DAVOS FESTIVAL – young artists in concert.
MUSIC | CLASSICAL MUSIC
Lonely South Sea island, vibrant city, beyond. The concept of paradise varies depending on your cultural, religious and personal background. In general, paradise is considered a place of perfect bliss, peace, and joy. An earthly paradise could be a state characterized by harmony with nature, social justice, and personal happiness.
For the American composer and environmental activist Gabriella Smith (born 1991), the earthly paradise has long been in danger. She took a rowboat out onto the reefs of French Polynesia and used a hydrophone to record the underwater soundscape and turn it into music. The result is the delicate chamber piece Anthozoa.
