Photographer Beat Presser and sculptor Danit take the audience on a journey to the dhow culture, whose roots go back to when the sailing ship was still the ultimate means of transport. The film tells of the construction of the dhows, mangrove forests, Somali pirates, the sailors on Jibondo, the lives of sailors and fishermen along the East African coast and the importance of shipping in a changing society.
The photo exhibition in the Kulturschuppen opens on 20.12.2024 at 7.30 p.m. and can be seen until 5 January 2025.
After the film, there will be a film discussion with Danit and Beat Presser.
