Excursion: The rocks tell: from the geology of the terrain to the geological map

Guided excursion to discover the rocks, deposits and geomorphological forms that allow you to reconstruct the geological history of San Bernardino. A journey through prehistoric oceans, mountains emerging from the sea and great glaciations.

Duration: from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Meeting point: in front of the former Alpine Colony of Mesolcina and Calanca, Strada de l'Acuforta 3, 6565 San Bernardino

Itinerary: San Bernardino (1612 m), Pian Lumbrif (1853 m), Cassina da Vignun (2115 m), Pian Cales (1753 m), Acubona (1662 m), San Bernardino.

Length and difference in altitude: 7.0 km (2h45 walk), ± 520 m.

Additional information: bring warm and rainproof clothes, sunscreen and shoes suitable for a mountain hiking trail. Bring a packed lunch and enough water.
