Excursion to the spring intake on Chalten Brünnen

A technical and ecological view of the spring catchment
In 2021, the springs were tapped on "Chalten Brünnen", near Farur, above Tschiertschen, to secure the drinking water supply for Tschiertschen-Praden. This building can be visited on a guided tour on July 20, 2024. René Marugg, the responsible civil engineer (ETH SIA / Werk 13 AG) explains how such a version is implemented. What are suitable sources for such projects, what challenges arise in terms of construction, economics or how is the operation monitored are further questions that will be answered.
Josef Hartmann, biologist and former research assistant at the ANU, provides information from an ecological point of view: Springs are rare habitats. How are they formed? How long is the water in the mountain, what does the catchment mean for the source area? What happens to the environment? What requirements must be met for a permit?
