In the 100th anniversary of the first publication of The Magic Mountain, literary translator Simon Pare describes his approach to translating this monumental work into English for Oxford University Press.

In conversation with Irma Wehrli and with the help of recordings, illustrations, text examples and short videos, he describes the challenges and pleasures of this work and the necessary research, and the solutions he has found.
