Rolf Schmid – "A reading that isn't one"

Be prepared for something: When the Graubünden comedian reads from his book, it never takes very long and he puts the ham aside, dives into the past himself as a thoroughbred comedian and re-enacts the scenes. What fun! They experience him playing pranks in Rothenbrunnen and as a ricochet in the military. They get to know the monosyllabic father and the tolerant mother. The school friend Willi, who already smoked a packet in primary school, also makes a brief appearance and, of course, Miss Züger, the old unmarried head of the boys' boarding school at Säntis. As a highlight, he takes us to a show at the Moulin Rouge and an audience at St. Peter's Basilica. A rather dense literary travel program. With humorous musical interludes, Rolf Schmid provides a few breathers - and more laughs.

Rolf Schmid is an escapee. He was already looking for the distance in the eighties, when he converted his Toyota bus and drove it through the Sahara. After that, the trained baker-confectioner fled from the routine of everyday life and his father's dictates to London, where he became head pastry chef at the Hilton at the age of twenty-one. Back in Rothenbrunnen, he did what was expected of him: he took over his father's bakery. Twenty years later, he had two additional branches and 30 employees. Above all, however, he had one thing – fed up. He hung up his bread and butter job and lived his dream, the stage. He has been successful there for thirty years. He is married, father of three adult children and grandfather. And obviously always good for a surprise.
