konzert studio chur: What futures are you longing for?

On Sunday, March 9, 2025 at 5 p.m., konzert studio chur will present a song recital in the Postremise Chur. The baritone Robert Koller and Stefan Kägi on the grand piano will perform, among other things, Othmar Schoeck's song cycle Nachhall and Michael Emanuel Bauer's afterimages under the title "What futures are you longing for?".
Reverberation is Schoeck's last great work. In this cycle, he processed premonitions of death, amazement at the pull of the past and the extinction of the trace of every life. Bauer continues Schoeck's cycle in his composition; a continuation that, in the sense of the word "reverberation", results in a rehearsal, a reverberation. Kaleidoscopic and compressed, splinters from Othmar Schoeck's music and biography are musically transferred. In loop and repetition structures, afterimages becomes a microscope for a brief moment, magnifying and revealing moments that would not be perceived in this way. In this way, Bauer's work links a variety of artistic points of reference not only to Schoeck, but also to songs by Franz Schubert, shoegazing from the 1990s, saxophone solos by Charlie Parker, Adolf Wölfli's Art Brut and films with and about Marilyn Monroe.
