A total of almost a hundred people – more than a third of the 260-inhabitant community at the time – left the Walser settlement of Tschappina in the second half of the 19th century and set off on the long and arduous journey to start a new life in America. In most cases, economic reasons are decisive for emigration, in one case or another it may also be the urge for adventure or the wanderlust of the forefathers. For 21-year-old Christina Finschi, however, there is another reason. She leaves her familiar home to follow her love.
