Ernst Ludwig Kirchner was a diligent letter writer. Architecture plays a role again and again, as he did in 1935, when he wrote: "At the time, it also seemed very stupid to me that I had to sacrifice so much time for architecture, etc., but today I am quite happy about everything I have learned, because without this knowledge I would never have penetrated so far into art." We read excerpts of the letters in front of selected works in the exhibition.
