3D route: bit.ly/39Y1Eg6 – photo: bit.ly/3moZqfD – autumn – Nice hike, but I can't explain the origin of this not very Graubünden name given to the summit! Leave the car at the parking lot in the upper part of Samedan (1760 m above sea level) and walk towards the nearby church of St. Peter. Continuing north-west you reach Peidra Grossa (1950 m/asl) where the path begins that climbs with many hairpin bends in the woods up to 2240 m/asl and crosses the "Via Engiadina". Continuing to climb you arrive at the Margunin saddle (2409 m / asl) where you turn south always on a well-marked path (white / red). From an altitude of 2700 m / asl you enter the rockiest area of the climb which, however, does not present serious difficulties; in the final part it becomes steeper. Once you arrive at a large "cairn" you go around the summit (2857 m / asl) reaching it from the north. Great view of the Engadine, the Bernina group and the Pontresina valley; there is the summit book. On the opposite side of the climb, just below the summit, take the path that descends southwards and joins the "Via Engiadina at an altitude of 2480 m / asl. Following it in a north-easterly direction, you come to cross the path made on the outward journey where, however, you continue until you reach a large stallion (2200 m / asl). From here an easy dirt road continues, descend to an altitude of 1850 m / asl near a polygon where you make a traverse to the west on the road that passes over the village of Samedan and arrives at the Church of San Peter and then descend to the starting point. Route (EE) of about 16 kilometers – positive elevation gain 1120 meters – no fountains – gpx(setetrak): bit.ly/3l7vEfC – "bergheil" bunoC@mmino
