Ausflugsrestaurant kurz vor dem höchsten Punkt
This challenging and in some places exposed panoramic tour makes a lot of demands on the cyclist and his/her mountain bike. It is completely under the spell of the Churfirsten and Lake Walen and is only recommended for experienced cyclists.

Description

From Walenstadt, the route first leads on the mountain road to Walenstadtberg. At Schrina-Hochrugg, it is worth taking a detour to the temple-like artwork "Paxmal". Karl Bickel's life's work is based on the original idea of peace. On unpaved roads directly below the Churfirsten, the route continues to the Schwaldis and Säls Alps.
As far as Säls, the route can be ridden without any problems. From this point on, however, only tech-savvy bikers should continue riding. The steep ascent with breathtaking views of the nearby rock faces and the lake is followed by a flat section before traversing the first ravine on a rough and stony path. After about 10 minutes of pushing/carrying passage, the highest point is reached.
The following trail to Laubegg is narrow, exposed in places and technically demanding. The panorama, however, is unforgettable. The rest of the descent includes a pushing passage at the beginning, but then becomes more and more fluid, except for a blocked passage just before Betlis. A detour to the Seerenbach Falls is very worthwhile. From Betlis, follow the Seestrasse to Weesen and continue along the Linth to Ziegelbrücke.

Geheimtipp

From the junction in Weesen, follow the SwitzerlandMobility logo No. 2 in the direction of Ziegelbrücke station (instead of No. 479).

Sicherheitshinweis

For reasons of safety and wildlife protection, the section between Alp Säls and Laubegg can only be used from the beginning of May to the end of November between 9 a.m. at the earliest and 3 p.m. at the latest. The section between Alp Säls and Betlis is used by hikers and mountain bikers at the same time. Therefore, the following applies: Drive considerately and give priority to hikers. To prevent erosion, only drive on existing roads and not with blocked brakes. In difficult places and uncertainty, it is better to descend and push.
