Digitaler Rundgang "Schichtwechsel - La Surselva" in Ilanz

More than 200 tons of stones, both mighty and very small, have come to llanz from the many valleys of the Surselva. In their individual diversity, their different manifestations of form, colour and materiality, they will adorn the old town area of Ilanz for three years. The digital tour deals with interesting geological information about the stones, which were collected by Professor Andreas Pfiffner.

A hidden treasure of the Surselva is its stone diversity, which has grown over millions of years due to the tectonic features. With this, the association "Schichtwechsel – La Surselva" realizes a special art exhibition in the city of Ilanz accompanied by a diverse supporting program.  The exhibition organizers initiate a multi-layered examination of the fundamental material stone; an invitation to visitors to take a closer look and an attempt to experience the mountain stones surrounding us in a new context of a city.

In addition to the art exhibition in the city, the Surselva Regional Museum in Ilanzer Städtli is showing a special exhibition on the cultural history of stone. You can also book guided tours to the places of origin of the stones or through the exhibition in Ilanz, where you will learn even more interesting facts about the geology, tectonics, biodiversity and history and region of Surselva.
