Description

On the tour from the Panixerpasshütte to the Martinsmadhütte SAC you almost always move on the border between the Glarus and the Graubünden. First, the path leads to the dreamy Rotstockseeli. Although you have not been on the road for long, it is worthwhile to take a short break and let the environment affect you. Continue to the Setter Hut (2588 m above sea level).  The hut is now privately owned.

To Crena Martin (2727 m above sea level), the path leads up a short slope and continues on the north side along a ribbon over a heel secured by chains. Now follow the long ridge to the Bündner Vorab (3028 m above sea level), the highest point of the Via Glaralpina. Via Vorabsattel it goes to the Glarner Vorab (3018 m above sea level) and finally on the edge of the Vorabfirn and later via Schwarzwändli to the Martinsmadhütte SAC (2002 m above sea level).

Geheimtipp

  • Below the preliminary firn you will find fossilized shells and coral sticks in the limestone plates
  • We are located in the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage Tectonic Arena Sardona. The World Heritage region of Sardona is unique in the world: nowhere else can you see the results of the processes that led to the formation of mountains as clearly and monumentally as here.
