Hüttenwanderung Thalkirch - Safien Platz

At the post office stop Thalkirch, the path leads past the houses and crosses the lush meadows almost without incline. Through the turnstile we first reach a forest pasture, later into the dense, centuries-old «Bawald». The dimmed light and the large, legendary boulders give this section of the trail something mystical. Soon we leave the forest again and reach the huts of Bäch after a short ascent. Along the fence we cross the bridge over the Bächertobel and follow the path towards the forest, where we turn left in the clearing. Continue up through the forest, where it is important to pay attention to the markings, as the path is not very visible. At the alpine fence, the path continues to the Camaner huts, along the alpine buildings and then in a wide arc down to Camanaboda. There we follow the road to the left and after the large stable we reach the footpath again, which leads us to the forest. We follow the road to the hamlet of Hof, turn right and from there it goes quite steeply down to Safien Platz.

A hike through the usage levels:In the
village step (along this hike clearly recognizable in Thalkirch, Camanaboda & Safien Platz) stands the permanently inhabited farm with house and stable barn. Also part of the village level are the numerous outdoor stables. The step of the Maiensässe is missing in the Safiental. In traditional agriculture, the Alpstufe was privately organized. Each family ran its own alpine dairy. The alpine buildings are lined up between alpine meadows and alpine pastures at an altitude of 1800 to 2000 meters (along this hike clearly visible at the Camaner huts).

Exhibition stable Turra:
The exhibition stable in Turra (at the Postbus stop) impressively shows the importance of the Safi stables for the cultural landscape as well as their construction and use.
Opening hours:
daily from 09.00 to 19.00

Safier Heimatmuseum:
The "aalt Huus", as the local history museum is also called, is located in Camanaboda.
Opening hours:
May to October, every second Sunday from 14.00 to 17.00.
If you book in advance, the museum guides will also be happy to show the museum on other days.
