PASSO CASSANA e PASSO LEVERONE (SO).

It changes as in this case. Once you reach Livigno, park at the beginning of Val Federia near the Calcheira Bridge (1863 m / asl) and walk on the VASP that runs through the valley; once you reach Pian dei Mort (2060 m / asl) take the dirt road on the right that climbs to the Cassana Refuge. After a long and steep climb you reach the refuge (2601 m / asl) built in 1912 and renovated in 1983 by the Livigno G.B. Galli. Here the route turns into an easy path reaching Passo Cassana (2690 m / asl). The climb to Pizzo Cassana was on the program, but the small track that climbs to the right in a northerly direction disappears when you are below Pizzo on very steep and treacherous terrain. The least risky route, perhaps, would have been that of Val Saliento. Swiss cartography names the 2 peaks (Pizzo and Punta) in the opposite way compared to Italian cartography. The morphology of these mountains is proposed, in my opinion, to consider the Italian one more correct. Back at Passo Cassana, a route descends into the Lower Engadine while continuing on the ridge in a southerly direction you arrive at the Leverone Pass (2760 m/asl) where you turn left to descend into the Leverone Valley until you intercept at an altitude of 2500 m/asl an easy path that reaches the bottom of the valley near the Ristoro Alpe Federia (2210 m/asl).
