PASSO DEL MURETTO (SO)

photo:tinyurl.com/2tv9nxxt -video track:not available - Route (E - T2) of 71 kilometers – positive elevation gain 2591 meters. - The idea was to start from Sondrio and go to the Muretto Pass but... Then the program changed. Departure at 04:30 in the morning from an altitude of 299 m / asl and climb to Mossini along a few paved roads, dirt roads, paths. Once you reach the last hamlet of Sondrio: Arquino, you intercept the important Rusca Path that connects Sondrio to the Swiss city of Chur. From Arquino along the Rusca, which in this stretch is also called "Turnachè", you reach Ca' Ceschina but then you have to continue along the SP15 (the Rusca route is still under construction). Passing through Prato and Torre Santa Maria then once you arrive in Chiesa in Valmalenco follow the road in va Chiareggio. Once in the quarry area, outside Chiesa in V.co take the path that climbs to Giovello (1204 m / asl) and reach San Giuseppe. From here you descend to Sabbionaccio to take the path of the Rusca Path that arrives in the center of Chiareggio (1599 m / asl). Following the signs, go to Pian del Lupo, take a wide mule track that passes alongside the Alpe dell'Oro and climbs becoming a path up to the Passo del Muretto (2562 m/asl) located on the Italian-Swiss border between Monte Forno and Monte Muretto. As mentioned before, the program was different: go down to Maloja, take the bus to reach Chiavenna and then return to Sondrio by train. Considering that it was not yet 12:00 the program changes: we return to Sondrio on foot following the same route as the climb.
