Description

Our hike begins at the spa resort of Andeer, 982 metres above sea level. Heading west from the village over the covered Rhine bridge, we reach the left side of the river, where the trail takes a right angle northwards past Pro Larm into the village of Clugin, 1013 metres above sea level. While here, don't miss the idyllically situated church with its frescoes in the choir section. Now we head southwest and reach the mighty ruins of Cagliatscha Castle, where the path turns north again. Via Plans, Pt. 1102, we arrive in the village of Donath, 1033 metres above sea level. At the exit from the village, we follow the road a little further, where a footbath branches off before the Ual da Suden stream and continue along this towards the road leading from Zillis. Once we cross the Rhine bridge we are already in Zillis, the village famed around the world for the Roman painted ceiling in the church of St. Martin.

A visit to the church, the village museum and the church museum are a must, making our hike a complete experience.

At the southern exit from the village we follow the local road a little to the district of Mulegn, 977 metres above sea level, where we take a footpath which leads to the pretty village of Pignia 1049 metres up via Pt. 1016 or 1034. After crossing the stream at the south end of the village, we ramble pleasantly back to our starting point of Andeer.
