Schuderser Maiensäss winter hiking trail

The old Walser settlement of Schuder can be reached from Schiers via the world-famous Saginatobel Bridge. From there, a gently rising road leads to the Maiensäss. If you take it easy, you only need an hour and a half and will be rewarded with a fantastic panoramic view: from the Rätikon over the Rhine Valley to the highest Grisons peaks. You have a little pity when the fog spreads over the Mittelland like a duvet and you can relax in the sun on the Maiensäss at the same time. If you love it sporty, take the sledge for the return journey. The road is lovingly groomed by locals with a small snow groomer. Also very suitable for families with children.

The road to Schuders is cleared daily in snowfall and is easily passable with a 4x4. Schuders can be reached even more relaxed by PostBus.

Sledges can be rented in the mountain inn or brought along by yourself.

The starting point is the Berggasthaus Post (car park) in Schuders, 1272 m above sea level. Follow the alpine road to the end of the village and from there follow the groomed path. Past scattered stables and after a few curves, you reach the Maiensäss at 1650 m above sea level.
