Description
The Alpine crossing starts in Sonthofen and leads us first along the Iller to shortly before Oberstdorf. After the first kilometers of loose rolling, the first small ascent to the Kleinwalsertal follows. From Riezlern it goes off the road along the Breitach to Baad. Here follows the ascent to the Starzeljoch, initially riding, then pushing and the last few meters the bike is carried. This is followed by the descent to the Neuhornbachhaus. The next stage takes us over the Hochtannberg pass road to Schröcken and from there over the Auenfeld to Lech. From Lech it goes gently uphill to the Formarinsee and then over the steep descent from the Freiburger Hütte to Dalaas. Here you have the possibility either to drive over the Kristbergsattel into the Montafon or to take the longer, but flat path via Bludenz. We follow the Ill and branch off at Galgenul to Gargellen. From there, the 3rd stage leads us over the Schlappiner Joch to Klosters and on over the Wolfgangpass to Davos. We follow the Dischmatal and drive over the Scaletta Pass into the Upper Engadine to S-Chanf. The next day, the tour leads over the Chaschauna Pass, the highest point of the Transalp. This is followed by the descent to Livigno and then the ascent to the Passo di Alpisella. On wide gravel it now goes left side along the Lago di San Giacomo. We cross the dam and follow the right bank of Lake Cancano. From Torri di fraele it goes downhill to Bormio, then the tour leads over the Gavia Pass road to Santa Caterina Valfurva. From there we conquer the Gavia Pass, downhill either on the road or on an initially very blocked, later drivable trail. On cycle paths and well-developed roads it is now very long downhill to Edolo. The tour follows the Oglio cycle path from here to Breno. Here begins the driveway to passo Crocedomini, the longest ascent of the entire tour. This is followed by a mostly drivable single trail into the valley. From Val Dorizzo it goes via Bagolino and Ponte Caffaro to Storo. The grand finale at the end of the tour then leads over the Tremalzo Pass to Riva. Not only scenically, but also from the paths, this stage is a real treat. On single trails we approach Riva and always have Lake Garda in view.
