Details
Description
The ruins of Jörgenberg are located on the outermost rocky spur of a long ridge east of Waltensburg. Jörgenberg was one of the original four castles in Waltensburg, along with Kropfenstein, Grünenfels Castle and Vogelberg Castle , and was already inhabited in the Middle Bronze Age. Jörgenberg is first mentioned in 765 in Bishop Tello's testament as castellum. The technically easy circular hike is located on the sunny side of the Surselve and is often accessible as early as spring.
