Um Su ab Lumbrein

Less than 1000 metres in altitude and already a full-blown ski tour with beautiful, open slopes that make ascent and descent a pleasure. This tour is also ideal for beginners.
Details
Description
The tour starts a bend in the road below Lumbrein, in the Val da Mulin. The steepest meters come just at the beginning. After that, the tour climbs leisurely and leaves plenty of room for route choice. After the usual "jacket stop" i Plaun d'Urdien makes you overcome altitude meter after altitude meter evenly and steadily. At 2100 meters you can cross to the small Maiensässhüttli - often the ascent track leads past it - and take a break for refreshments. On the last 250 meters of altitude, the terrain remains similarly steep, but the ambience becomes more and more imposing. One surrounding peak after the other can be seen. The spacious and flat summit is marked with a cairn.
The descent is varied and can be ridden exactly on the ascent route. However, the terrain leaves enough space for smaller variants. With the exception of Plaun d'Urdien, the wildlife rest area to the south comes close to the route and requires a precise choice of route.
Geheimtipp
In safe conditions, you can ski south from the summit or Alp Staviala Vedra to Nussaus or P.1435. Please note the extensive wildlife rest zone here as well.
Sicherheitshinweis
Ski and snowshoe tours in unsecured terrain require good knowledge of avalanche danger assessment and tour planning. Furthermore, a complete safety upgrade must always be carried - regardless of the current avalanche danger.
We recommend the WhiteRisk app and website to prepare and plan the tour.
For carefree enjoyment, we recommend our mountain guides and snowshoe hiking guides of the Surselva.
