Description
Majestic and with great expressiveness – it has been more than 800 years since this imposing castle was first mentioned in a document. For centuries, this building was regarded as a strategically central location in order to secure the market routes through the Engadine, which were important beyond the borders at the time. Founded in 2001, Fundaziun Tschanüff has set itself the goal of securing the castle ruins in several stages and saving the then solid, carefully and precisely built walls from decay. In recent years, three stages have already been successfully completed.
With the upcoming fourth and final stage, the securing work is to be completed and completed. The existing structure of the castle ruin Tschanüff can thus be preserved and the historical monument of national importance made accessible to the public again. The realization of the fourth construction phase is planned for 2018. The apprentices of the Bündner Baumeisterverband will in turn carry out part of the securing work. Apart from the support contribution of the Canton of Graubünden, the project is financed exclusively by Fundaziun Tschanüff.
