Casa Cav. Gioiero (oua_28419181_image)

Below the road, just before the village of Castaneda, stands the House of the knight Giovanni Antonio Gioiero, one of the protagonists of the Grisons Troubles.

Description

Built in the early seventeenth century at the behest of the brothers Giovanni and Gaspare Gioiero, this sumptuous three-storey residence is completely built of stone. The main entrance is located to the south. On the façade oriented to the west, just over a meter high, there is a large niche containing the fresco of the Madonna and Child flanked by two figures of Saints. Below the painting is the inscription dated 1617.
