Description
The Casa d'Angel has a long history. The original house dates back to the 17th century. In 1987, it was renovated by Peter Zumthor and used as a community center. The building has become a striking contribution to the theme of old and new. Apart from the new entrance, little has changed to the entrance façade and the front part of the building. The brick area in the middle could be the remains of a former residential tower. On the rear façade, a large, almost square window opening brings light into the part of the building that has been converted into a foyer.
In 2015, it was opened as a cultural center for the municipality of Lumnezia after a gentle renovation. It offers space for exhibitions, events and is home to the large Péz Regina crystal - one of the largest crystal groups in Europe. In collaboration with the Fundaziun Capauliana and changing curators, a new exhibition is held every year.
Guided tours of the village, the house and the crystal can be arranged by prior arrangement and independently of opening hours.
