To the west of the village, below the cantonal road, you can see the walls of the former Valendas castle, which was probably built in the late 12th century and the part of the curtain wall that is still visible is impressive.
Description
To the west of the village, below the cantonal road, you can see the walls of the former Valendas castle; it was probably built in the late 12th century and the part of the curtain wall that is still visible is impressive. Originally the seat of the lords of Valendas, the castle became part of the Rhaetian possessions in the Vorderrheintal around the middle of the 14th century. In the 16th century it was owned by the de Mont family, after 1550 it was no longer inhabited.
