Description
History
The church, which undoubtedly dates back to the early Middle Ages, was first documented in 1185. No recognizable parts of the earlier, early medieval structure remain, although the lower sections of the tower are probably from the Romanesque period. In 1392, the church burned down along with the entire village. Reconsecrated in 1397, together with two altars. In 1493, the church and a quarter of the village were destroyed again. In 1500, a letter of indulgence was granted for the reconstruction. 1504 Reconsecration with four altars.
Description of the building
The east-facing building, consisting of a single-nave nave and a choir closed on three sides, was completed in 1504. It is covered with a star vault of two bays. In the north wall there is a Gothic beveled arched door to the sacristy. In the south wall, between the first and second windows, there is the outline of a Gothic pointed arch opening.
The tower stands in front of the west front, whose walls adjoin it. In the upper storey, which was added with a small projection during the new construction of 1504, the sound windows open with blindly worked fish-bubble tracery made of tuff. Curved gables and a heavily constricted baroque dome from 17844 form the end.
Wall paintings from 1899, Annunciation, Marriage of Mary and Coronation;
The altars: The high altar belongs to the Valais group. The former Gothic high altar is now in St. Eusebius. The side altars of St. Sebastian and St. Roch date from 1734.
Furnishings
In the north wall of the choir is still the crenellation of the late Gothic wall tabernacle from around 1504. The pulpit was built in 1746 according to the Urbarium. On the north wall of the choir is a baldachin stall from 1670. A crucifix from the 17th century hangs above the gallery.
Late Gothic wooden sculptures: St. Peter and Paul 1486, St. Felix and Regula, 1500, St. Wolfgang, 1485. There is an enthroned Mother of God in the Disentis Monastery Museum.
Chalices: Late Gothic chalice, around 1520, Baroque chalice, around 1670-1680; Rococo chalice, around1760.
Paraments: A casula made of white silk damask with gold tendrils, colorful carnations and other flowers.
