Description
History
The Carolingian imperial charter of around 840 mentions a church with tithing rights in Ladir, owned by the Pfävers monastery. The patrocinium of St. Zeno is mentioned in the forged but factually correct document of 998. No parts of the early medieval building remain, only the lower storeys of the tower from the Romanesque period. The visitation record from 1643 reports a narrow building with a late Gothic choir and flat wooden ceiling. New building around 1710, perhaps using parts of the old enclosing walls. 1900 Construction of a new tower with extensions in front of the west front.
Description of the building
The east-facing complex consists of a single-nave nave without chapels and a recessed, flat closed choir. Above the choir is a false cross vault with milieu medallions, above the nave is a barrel vault divided into two bays with lunettes. The wall zone is lit by square windows in the shields by oculi. The sacristy is located on the north side of the choir. The upper storeys were removed from the Romanesque tower on the west side of the nave. The existing two storeys have blind niches with four-section round-arched friezes.
Furnishings
The high altar dates from 1710, it was renovated around 1760 and supplemented with side structures. The altarpiece shows St. Zeno. The two wooden side altars are composed as pendants. Altarpiece on the gospel side with a scapular Madonna, on the epistle side.Fragments of a late Gothic carved altar in the Disentis Monastery Museum.Bells from Rüetschi in Aarau 1901/1902.
