In addition to the Rhaeto-Romanic library, the Chesa Planta also houses the Upper Engadine Cultural Archive and the Museum of Living.

Description

The Chesa Planta is a museum of living culture. It was built in 1595 by the von Salis family as a stately patrician house and enlarged to become a twin house in 1760. The building is an impressive example of an Engadin aristocrat’s house and of domestic culture in the 18th and 19th centuries. It houses the Upper Engadin cultural archives, whose photographs, books, plans, herbarium pages and art reflect the rich cultural history of the Upper Engadin, as well as a Rhaeto-Romanic library.
