Kirche Sogn Flurin
The church of Sogn Flurin stands on the main street in the middle of the village of Vignogn. The church, which looks simple from the outside and is late Gothic in style, was rebuilt and enlarged around 1500.

Description

The church is open from 09.00 - 17.30.

The late Gothic church, which looks plain from the outside, was rebuilt and enlarged around 1500 (1). The eye-catcher in the nave (picture 2) is the winged altar (3) in the choir, signed by Jörg Kändel. Rarely, it shows nine female figures on the front as a whole, but not the titular saint of the church. The reason for this is the altar's old location in Platta on the Lukmanier Pass.

The predella (4) consists of half-length figures of Christ and the twelve disciples. In the filigree embossing (5) you can see St. Mauritius with the armour, St. Florinus and St. George with the lance.

The outer sides of the wings show the Annunciation on the left and Mary's visit to Elizabeth on the right, the so-called Visitation. St. Peter and St. Paul are wearing the Veronica shawl (6). The name of the workshop responsible is now clearly visible: Jörg Kendel Biberach.

Hans Ardüser created a series of fresco paintings on the choir walls in 1595. To the left of the window: Matthew with the angel, Mary with the infant Jesus, the mercy seat (7) (God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit) and St. Florinus. To the right of the window are: St. Luke with the bull (8), St. John with the eagle and a praying priest.
