Description

History

First mentioned in 1345 in the indulgence letter of St. Vincentius in Pleif. The patron saint was St. Mary. The tower and perhaps also the surrounding walls of the nave still remain from the Romanesque structure. In 1501, the Lichtervögte received permission to knock down walls for the restoration of the sacristy. The chancel was probably rebuilt and the nave was covered with a plank ceiling in the 17th century.

Description of the building

The northeast-facing building consists of a nave and a chancel of equal width, which is covered with a ribless cross vault adapted to the polygon. Arched window and arched entrance on the west front. Only the tabernacle dates from 1501.The tower stands to the north at the junction of the choir and nave, the walls of which adjoin it. It dates from the 11th and 12th centuries, with the exception of the top storey, which was added later, probably in the 13th century.

Furnishings

On the south side of the choir there is a late Gothic sacrament niche, the crowning of which is decorated with tracery.Bells with inscriptions from 1491.
