Description
History
First mentioned in the Carolingian imperial land register around 840. The Romanesque period likely includes the tower (12th century) and the eastern sections of the nave. At the end of the 14th century, the tower was raised. In the second half of the 15th century, the choir and sacristy were newly built.
Architectural Description
The nave extends northeast into a square choir of the same width, covered by a diamond vault from the 15th century. The nave has unusual proportions. The segmental barrel ceiling, the shape of all windows, and the round-arched entrances in the west and south date from a later period (1817).
The Romanesque tower stands on the north side of the nave. The first four floors feature blind niches with triple-arched friezes. The blind arches on the upper floor were likely destroyed when the round-arched sound openings were redesigned in the 14th century. The onion-shaped spire dates from the 18th century. The sacristy, located on the north side of the choir, has a barrel vault, with Gothic-style framed windows and doors.
Bells with inscriptions from 1376 and 1399, featuring the Italian shape of bells.Gothic tomb slabs with inscriptions, 1427.
