The church stands as a symbol of center, peace and steadiness clearly visible in the graceful grounds. The pretty baroque organ invites you to make music.

Description

Until the middle of the 17th century, Versam and its farms formed a single parish together with Valendas. The parish church with the burial place stood in Valendas. Before the Reformation, Versam had only one chapel. The field name "Bi Chappälä" still reminds us of this.

Since going to church and transporting corpses from Versam to Valendas was arduous, the people of Versam, together with the Arezen farm, decided in 1634 to build their own church with a cemetery. In the same year, the foundation stone was laid and on 11 December 1634 two bells were delivered by the founders Leonhart and Theodosius Ernst from Lindau. A third bell by Franz Theus from Felsberg was added in 1846. Even today, they call the faithful to worship.

The organ in the church of Versam offers something not only for the ears, but also for the eyes. The magnificent work was built by the organ maker Pankraz Keyser of St. Margrethen. The local Jakob Gredig donated the instrument in 1789, as the inscription under the organ pipes says. Probably so that everything fits together nicely, the baroque pulpit was decorated in the rural Rococo style at the same time as the organ. According to a document from 1711 in the church tower knob, the pulpit was built in 1710 by master Felix Prader and the Arez master Joos Bonadurer, a member of a local carpentry dynasty.
